Galaxy Z Fold 8 Resale Value in Dubai: Ultra or Standard?
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 went on sale in the UAE on 7 August 2026 and now holds about 46% of what it cost new. Three months, a little over half the value gone. The Fold 8 Ultra costs AED 800 more new and returns AED 400 more at resale, so half that premium does not come back.

Samsung did something new with this generation. For the first time the Fold line has an Ultra, which means anyone buying one in July had a decision to make that did not exist before.
Three months on we can say what that decision was worth, because we are buying both.
Key Takeaways
- About 46% of its new price, three months after going on sale. Both models, almost exactly the same.
- The Ultra premium halves. AED 800 more new, AED 400 more back.
- Flex Titanium is Ultra only. The standard Fold 8 handles the crease differently.
- IP48 means water, not dust. In Dubai that is the wrong way round.
- Sell before the next Unpacked, not after. The drop starts when the new model is shown.
- All offers are in one table below. The live figure is always on the calculator.

All figures in AED, and these are the only prices on this page. The Fold 8 is three months old and still finding its level, so the rest of this article explains the market rather than repeating numbers that will date. For today's figure, use thecalculator.
Look at the gap between Excellent and Fair on the Ultra: four hundred dirhams across the whole range. On most phones that step is far wider. On a foldable so much of the value sits in the hinge, the frame and the cover screen that a damaged inner display does not collapse the price the way it would on a slab phone.
Half Its Value in Three Months
Samsung sells the standard Fold 8 at Dh7,199 for the 256GB in the UAE, and the Ultra at Dh7,999. Pre-orders opened on 22 July and general sale began on 7 August.
Against those prices, both models are now worth a little under half. The Ultra holds about 46% and the standard Fold 8 about 46%, which is close enough to call identical.
That is a steep fall for three months, and it looks steeper next to what is happening on the Apple side of the same market right now. A current iPhone three months old would still be in the seventies as a percentage of its new price. A foldable at three months is at forty-six.
The Fold 7 shows where this goes. It launched in the UAE at AED 7,599 and today it sits at roughly a quarter of that. OurGalaxy Z Fold 7 guide covers why it dropped as quickly as it did, and the pattern on the Fold 8 is the same curve one year earlier.
None of that means a foldable is a bad phone. It means the first year costs more than people expect, and the sensible response is to know the number rather than to find out later.
Worth checking now rather than later.See what yours is worth today. On a curve this steep, the difference between deciding this month and deciding after the next Unpacked is not small.

So the Ultra does not protect your money better. It holds the same proportion as the standard model, which means the extra AED 800 you paid is subject to the same depreciation as everything else. Four hundred of it is gone after three months.
That is not an argument against buying the Ultra. The 200MP main camera, the 50MP ultra-wide, the 3x telephoto, the 8-inch inner screen and the 5,000mAh battery are real differences, and if you wanted them they were worth having. It is an argument against buying the Ultra because you think the bigger number protects itself. It does not.
One genuine exception. The 1TB Ultra ships with 16GB of RAM rather than 12GB, which is the only storage step on this phone that buys something other than space.
IP48 and Dubai Sand: The Hinge Problem Nobody Mentions
The standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 is rated IP48. Most people read that as waterproof and stop there.
What it actually means is full protection against water immersion and only partial protection against solid particles. Dust and sand get a four, not a six. For a phone sold in Dubai, that is precisely the wrong way round.
A folding hinge is a mechanism with moving parts and a gap that opens and closes several dozen times a day. Sand is the one thing it genuinely cannot cope with, and Dubai supplies it generously. We have seen enough Folds arrive with a hinge that feels gritty to say that this, rather than the screen, is the thing that most often takes a foldable down a grade here.
It is also the easiest thing to avoid. Do not put a Fold in the same pocket as keys. Do not open it on a beach or in a sandstorm if you can help it. And if the hinge has started making a noise, get it looked at while the phone is still in warranty rather than after.
This is the single most Dubai-specific thing about owning a foldable, and it is why we check the hinge first and the screen second. Tell us if it feels gritty. It does not stop us buying the phone and it is better known at the quote than at your door.
The Crease: Why the Two Models Are Not the Same
Samsung put a Flex Titanium display structure in the Fold 8 Ultra, which it says reduces how visible the crease is. The standard Fold 8 does not have it.
That matters at resale because the crease is the first thing a second-hand buyer looks for. They hold the phone open, tilt it toward a window, and look down the fold line. Everything else about the phone is secondary to what they see in that moment.
So the two models arrive at a buyer differently even when both are in perfect condition. This is worth knowing if you are comparing an Ultra and a standard Fold 8 that are otherwise identically priced on a classifieds site.
On what a crease actually means, and when it is a problem rather than normal wear, ourGalaxy Z Fold 6 guide goes through it properly, including the inner screen protector that people keep peeling off and should not.
What a Buyer Checks on a Three-Month-Old Fold
Less than you would think, and in a fixed order.
- The hinge, opened and closed slowly. Smooth, even resistance, no grit, no noise. This is checked before anything else on a foldable.
- The crease, in daylight. Held open and tilted. A visible line is normal. A line that catches the light differently along its length is not.
- The inner screen protector. Factory-applied and intact is what you want. Peeled off is a mark against the phone, and peeled off badly is worse.
- The cover screen and frame. Corners first, because that is where a dropped Fold takes the hit.
- Battery health, which on a three-month-old phone should be close to new. Our guide onchecking Samsung battery health has the steps.
On a phone this new, most of these come back clean. The one that catches people out is the screen protector, because it starts lifting at the crease around month three and the instinct is to pull it off.
Sell Now, or Wait for the Fold 9?
Sell before the next Unpacked. Not after it, and not during it.
Samsung announces its foldables in the middle of the year, and the thing most people get wrong is when the price actually moves. It does not move when the new model goes on sale. It moves the moment the new model is announced, because that is when every buyer in the market decides to wait.
Which means the window for a Fold 8 is roughly now until the next announcement. Inside that window the price drifts down slowly. Outside it, it steps.
If you are using the phone and you want to keep using it, keep it. That is a reasonable thing to do with a device that cost this much. But if it is a second phone, or you have already moved on, the arithmetic is not close.
Our page onthe best time to sell a Samsung covers how the same pattern plays out across the S series.
How to Sell Your Galaxy Z Fold 8 in Dubai
- Check which model you have. The Fold 8 and the Fold 8 Ultra look similar closed. Settings, then About phone, gives you the model name and the storage, and they are priced differently.
- send the details onWhatsApp.
- Open it and check the hinge slowly, listening for grit. Tell us what you find. It is better in the quote than at the door.
- Leave the inner screen protector alone, even if it has started lifting. Removing it costs you more than the lifted edge does.
- Remove your Samsung and Google accounts before handover, or the phone locks for the next owner. OurFRP lock guide walks through it.
- Book a free pickup anywhere in Dubai. We check the phone open and closed in front of you and pay on the spot, cash or bank transfer.
Same condition, same price. If the phone matches what you told us, the quote does not change at the door.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much is a Galaxy Z Fold 8 worth in Dubai?
Our offers for both the Fold 8 and the Fold 8 Ultra, at every storage size and condition grade, are in the single table on this page. The phone went on sale in the UAE on 7 August 2026, so it is three months old and still moving, which is why the live figure sits on the calculator rather than being repeated through the article.
Is the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra worth the extra money?
As a phone, that is your call. At resale, half the premium disappears. Samsung charges AED 800 more for the Ultra at 256GB, Dh7,999 against Dh7,199, and we pay AED 400 more for it. Both models hold about 46% of their new price, so the Ultra does not protect your money better, it just starts higher and falls by the same proportion.
How fast has the Z Fold 8 lost value?
It has lost a little over half since August. Three months after going on sale it holds roughly 46% of its UAE retail price. For context, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 launched at AED 7,599 and now sits at about a quarter of that. Foldables fall harder than ordinary flagships and the first year is where most of it happens.
Does the crease affect what I get for a Fold 8?
Yes, and it is worth knowing that the two models handle it differently. The Fold 8 Ultra uses a Flex Titanium display structure that Samsung says makes the crease less visible. The standard Fold 8 does not have it. A buyer looking at an inner screen in daylight will notice the difference, and so do we when we check one.
What does IP48 actually protect against?
Water, not dust. The standard Fold 8 is rated IP48, which covers immersion in water but gives only partial protection against dust and sand. In Dubai that matters more than it would almost anywhere else, because sand is the one thing a folding hinge genuinely does not like. It is the single most common reason a Fold arrives with a mechanism that does not feel right.
Should I sell my Fold 8 now or wait for the Fold 9?
Sell before the next launch, not after. Samsung announces its foldables in the middle of the year, and the price of the outgoing model drops as soon as the new one is shown rather than when it ships. Holding a Fold 8 through the next Unpacked is the most expensive version of waiting.
Does storage change the price much on a Fold 8?
Less than it cost you. Samsung charges AED 800 to go from 256GB to 512GB on the standard Fold 8 at retail, and the gap at resale is a fraction of that. On a foldable, condition and the state of the hinge move the number far more than capacity does.
Can I sell a Fold 8 with a damaged inner screen?
Yes. It drops to the Fair grade and it is still worth real money, because so much of a foldable's value sits in everything that is not the screen. Tell us before the pickup rather than at the door. If the phone is still in warranty and Samsung will repair it, that is usually worth doing first, because a working inner screen moves you up a grade.
Do you buy the Fold 8 Ultra 1TB?
Yes, and it is in the table. The 1TB Ultra ships with 16GB of RAM rather than 12GB, which is the one storage step on this phone that buys you something other than space.
