iPhone 17 Resale Value in Dubai: What It's Worth After One Year
A used iPhone 17 is worth roughly AED 2,750 to AED 3,200 in Dubai right now for the 256GB model in good condition. That is about 80 to 94% of its AED 3,399 launch price after a full year, which is an unusually strong result for a standard iPhone.
The reason is simple: there is still no standard iPhone 18 in the shops. Apple's September 2026 launch covered only the Pro models, so for most buyers in Dubai the iPhone 17 is still the newest regular iPhone they can get. That will not last forever, and knowing why the price is high helps you decide when to sell.
How Much Is a Used iPhone 17 Worth in Dubai Right Now?
The iPhone 17 went on sale in the UAE on 19 September 2025, starting at AED 3,399 for 256GB. Here is what people are paying for one in Dubai today.

Dubizzle has 104 iPhone 17 ads in Dubai this week, and the details tell the story. A 256GB unit in Oud Al Muteena is listed at AED 2,700. One in Dubai Design District with its box asks AED 2,850, and one in Mirdif with AppleCare+ also asks AED 2,850. A phone in Al Garhoud with 100% battery, only 75 charge cycles and Apple warranty until June 2027 asks AED 2,999.
At the top end, sealed or barely used phones in Deira and International City are listed at AED 3,100 to AED 3,500. Treat all of these as asking prices; a phone sells for what a buyer actually pays, not what the ad says.
Why the iPhone 17 Has Held Its Value So Well
Phones usually lose a large share of their value in the first year. The iPhone 17 has lost far less, and four things explain it.
There is no iPhone 18 to replace it yet
In September 2026 Apple launched the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max, but no standard iPhone 18.According to MacRumors, the iPhone 18 and 18e are expected in spring 2027 instead. Until then, anyone who wants a new non-Pro iPhone is buying an iPhone 17, which keeps demand for used ones high.
It feels like a Pro phone
The iPhone 17 was the first standard iPhone with a 120Hz ProMotion screen, and it starts at 256GB rather than 128GB. It also has two 48MP rear cameras, an 18MP Center Stage front camera and the A19 chip, which runs Apple Intelligence. For many buyers, that is enough to skip the Pro.
New phone prices went up this year
A global memory-chip shortage pushed up the cost of new phones in 2026. In July, Deira traders toldKhaleej Times that iPhone 17 models had risen by AED 200 to AED 300 in the market, with higher-storage versions rising most. When new phones cost more, used ones hold their price.
Buyers trust a one-year-old phone
A phone this new usually has a healthy battery, no repairs and, in many cases, some Apple warranty left. That makes it an easy purchase for the next owner, and easy purchases sell at higher prices.
How Condition Changes the Price
Refurbishers price iPhones by grade, and their price list is a useful guide to how buyers value condition. Here is Revibe's current pricing for a 256GB iPhone 17:
Grade
Battery guarantee
Price (256GB)
Good
85% or above
AED 3,029
Very Good
90% or above
AED 3,089
Excellent
95% or above
AED 3,189
New
Unused phone
AED 3,599
Two lessons come out of this table. First, on a phone this young, the difference between a good and an excellent used unit is small, only about AED 160. Second, the jump to "new" is large, about AED 400. If your iPhone 17 is still sealed, do not open it. Breaking the seal moves it from the new price to the used price in a second.
What does cost you money is damage. A cracked screen, a dented aluminium frame or a part replaced outside Apple will all bring the offer down sharply, because the buyer has to fix or disclose it. If your phone is damaged, read our guide onwhether you can sell a broken phone in Dubai.
Three Things Every Dubai Seller Should Check First
Your eSIM
Apple sells the iPhone 17 in the UAE as an eSIM-only phone. Before you sell, move your eSIM to your new phone, or delete it from Settings > Mobile Service. Some imported iPhone 17 units have a physical SIM tray, and a few Dubizzle sellers mention it in the title, because some buyers still want one.
Your instalment plan
Many iPhone 17s in Dubai were bought on a du or e& device plan, or split into payments with Tabby or Tamara. Selling the phone does not end that agreement, and you will keep paying the remaining instalments. Check what you still owe before you agree a price, so the sale actually leaves you with money in hand.
Your warranty and receipt
Apple's limited warranty lasts one year from purchase. If you bought your iPhone 17 at launch, it has just ended. If you bought it later, or added AppleCare+, you still have cover, which buyers value. Check it in Settings > General > AppleCare & Warranty, and keep your receipt from Apple, Sharaf DG, Jumbo, du or e&. A local receipt answers the buyer's first question: is this phone genuine and legally sold in the UAE?
iPhone 17 vs iPhone 16 and iPhone 17 Pro on the Used Market
Buyers rarely look at one model in isolation. This is what 256GB units of the neighbouring models sell for in the UAE today:
Model (256GB)
Used price in the UAE
Gap to iPhone 17
iPhone 16
AED 2,579 – 2,919
About AED 300 – 450 less
iPhone 17
AED 3,029 – 3,189
—
iPhone 17 Pro
around AED 3,700 – 4,250
About AED 700 – 1,000 more
The iPhone 16 is the one to watch. It is a year older but only a few hundred dirhams cheaper, so a buyer who finds your iPhone 17 overpriced will simply buy a 16. Price your phone against that, not against what you paid.
When Should You Sell Your iPhone 17?
If you are not using it, sell it soon. Right now you are selling the newest standard iPhone on the market. Once the standard iPhone 18 arrives, which reports expect in spring 2027, the iPhone 17 becomes last year's model and its price will step down.
There is a second reason not to wait. The price rise from the memory shortage helped used values this year, but it can reverse just as quickly if new phone prices settle. And every month adds charge cycles to the battery, which buyers now check in Settings > General > About.
If you are keeping the phone, that is fine too. An iPhone 17 bought in 2025 will stay useful for years. Just know that its resale value is at its strongest between now and early 2027.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the resale value of an iPhone 17 in Dubai?
A used 256GB iPhone 17 in good condition sells for roughly AED 2,750 to AED 3,200 in Dubai, about 80 to 94% of its AED 3,399 launch price. A 512GB model sells for around AED 3,300 to AED 4,100.
How much can I sell my iPhone 17 for in Dubai?
Private buyers pay close to the resale range above. A buyer who pays cash on the spot offers a little less, because the phone still has to be tested and resold. Battery health, condition and any repairs decide where your offer lands.
Why is the iPhone 17 holding its value so well?
There is no standard iPhone 18 yet, so the iPhone 17 is still the newest regular iPhone. It also has a 120Hz screen and 256GB as standard, and new phone prices rose this year because of a memory-chip shortage.
When is the best time to sell an iPhone 17?
Before the next standard iPhone arrives. Reports say the iPhone 18 is expected in spring 2027, and the iPhone 17 will lose value once it is no longer the newest model.
Is the UAE iPhone 17 eSIM-only?
Yes. Apple sells the iPhone 17 in the UAE as an eSIM-only phone. Move your eSIM to your new phone or delete it before you sell.
Can I sell an iPhone 17 that I am still paying for on instalments?
You can sell the phone, but the instalments do not stop. If you bought it on a du or e& plan, or with Tabby or Tamara, you still owe the remaining payments after the sale.
Is a sealed iPhone 17 worth more than a used one?
Yes, noticeably. Sealed and brand-new units sell for several hundred dirhams more than even the best used ones, so if yours has never been opened, keep the seal intact.
What is the difference in price between a used iPhone 17 and iPhone 16?
Less than you might expect. Refurbished 256GB iPhone 16 units sell for about AED 2,579 to AED 2,919, only around AED 300 to AED 450 below a refurbished iPhone 17.
